The Voice Of Reason

Doing a fine job in a difficult situation is our Melissa.

Her vocal performance was captured forever on my Roland digital recorder and became the first and only time that Riffle Studios had packed itself up and 'hit the road' for a session; setting up shop in Melissa's kitchen of all places. The usual routine is to have all vocal talent make their own way across town (by bus or motorcar) into the cozy/comfy confines of Riffle Studios ©.

It was during an otherwise instrumental passage in the middle of an otherwise lyric-rich homemade ditty called: "Never Said A Word" (from the cool new unreleased album) that I decided the semi-quiet audio space needed to be filled with a little less of my keyboard shenanigans, and a little more with the sound of a female storyteller.  So I made the call to the house of Mel.  The measured cadence of the spoken word (words provided in neat typing) from Melissa was just what the doctor ordered.

There are three or four other songs now reaching the final editing phase (subtracting overeager drum solos or adding woodwinds) and when they are sufficiently cleaned up for a public hearing, the call will once again be sent out to the 'Melster' gal asking kindly for another reading performance... recorded in the kitchen of her choice.

As is evident in the photo below, Melissa's work in Riffle Studios began at an early age.
